Examine the desire. Couples should sign up for a dance class only if both are willing to learn to dance. If one is half-hearted about the idea the endeavor may not be a roaring success as you thought it might be.

It will be good to try to persuade the other by pointing out the benefits of dancing. It can enhance closeness between the couple, take away stress, help one get fit, lose weight and so many other advantages.

You have to consider though the other party’s personal matters before arriving at a mutual decision. Your boyfriend or girlfriend may need to attend to some important work or family matters and doing a dancing class may not be a good idea for the moment.

Keep it real. Do not expect your partner to learn the dance moves overnight. It is not possible for your partner to develop perfect dancing skills in an instant. If you want to learn salsa, for instance, you cannot expect that your partner will learn the steps in minutes or even in a day.

In order to learn an intricate dance, you have to start at a beginner’s level then progress slowly to advanced level. This will take time and even longer time for some people. Your ability to learn varies . It is better not to have a lot of expectation early on or you will risk getting disappointed.

Dress appropriately. There are some rules on what to wear in a dancing lesson. This is particularly true for some popular Latin dances like salsa. The attire must fit the dance. Also, do not be overdressed or underdressed. Wear what is convenient so you will look relaxed in the dance floor.

Have fun. Do not take the lessons too seriously. You are not joining a competition after all. Also, it will be put a lot of pressure on the part of your partner if you expect too much from the person. It will be best to think of the dancing class as a good time to get to know each other well. Also, you are able to spend quality time with each other and learn something in the process.

Of course, it is good to have an aim and to advance but if you concentrate too much on getting the desired results , you will not be able to enjoy . Besides, you learn and advance quickerif you enjoy what you are doing rather than putting unnecessary pressure on yourself.

Do not criticize your partner if he or she makes mistakes. If he or she accidentally steps on your toes, it will be counterproductive if you criticize his or her mistakes. Just give him or her tips gently on how to do better next time. This will make your partner appreciate and respect you more.
